Letter From the CEO: Happy Mother’s Day

Dear Friends,
This Mother’s Day, will you honor a hardworking mom by helping her achieve the future she dreams of — for herself and for her children?
Across Arkansas, single moms are fighting every day to earn their degrees, provide for their families, and create a better life. But one unexpected crisis — a broken-down car, a missed paycheck, a medical emergency — can threaten it all.
You can be the reason a mother doesn’t have to choose between feeding her kids and finishing her education.
Just ask Kathy (photos above).
Kathy was a single mom of four. She finally went back to college after dropping out of high school at 17. She was desperate to earn her degree and build a better future for her family.
Then her car broke down.
“Without a car, I couldn’t get to class. But with four children to feed, I had no extra money to get my car repaired.”
Then Kathy heard about the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund. She prayed this would be the answer to her problems.
Because generous people like you give, Kathy got the help she needed. She fixed her car, stayed in school, and graduated.
That one scholarship check changed everything. That’s why I’m writing to you today. We need your help because our list of applicants is long.
Today, because of your compassionate past giving, Kathy graduated and went on to earn TWO master’s degrees! She is now a library director at an Arkansas university.
Her education and this job have allowed her to pave the way for her children — and even her grandson — to pursue higher education.
“The scholarship was a blessing. Education was the key to a better life for my children and me.”
This Mother’s Day, would you please consider a generous gift to help give another mom the same opportunity?
Your gift will help single mothers across Arkansas stay in school, reach graduation, and create a brighter future for their families.
Just $100, $150, or $200 can change a life, maybe even generations of lives.
Let’s celebrate mothers by investing in them.
Gratefully,
Jenn Morehead
ASPSF CEO
P.S. Kathy now donates monthly to help other single moms. “Any little bit you can give is a blessing.” This Mother’s Day, be that blessing. Give today.
