ASPSF July 2026 Volunteer of the Month: Daneshia Cherry of Bowie County

The Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is proud to recognize Daneshia Cherry of Bowie County, Texas, as our July 2026 Volunteer of the Month.
Daneshia’s connection to ASPSF began long before she became a volunteer. As a former scholarship recipient and single parent, she experienced firsthand the support ASPSF provides to students pursuing higher education while raising a family.
Today, Daneshia is paying that support forward by volunteering with ASPSF.
“As an ASPSF alumnus, volunteering has been especially meaningful to me,” she said.
Over the past year, she has assisted with scholarship applications, interviews, and award ceremonies, helping create a welcoming and encouraging experience for fellow single parents.
For Daneshia, volunteering is an opportunity to invest in an organization that played an important role in her own success.
“ASPSF played a major role in helping me earn my bachelor’s degree,” she said. “Serving as a volunteer allows me to give back to an organization that had such a positive impact on my life and educational journey.”
Daneshia currently serves as Housing Director at Ark-Tex Council of Governments and remains committed to lifelong learning. A first-generation college graduate, she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University in December 2025 and is currently halfway through her MBA program.
Her commitment to service extends beyond ASPSF. Daneshia stays involved in a variety of community activities and enjoys finding ways to support others.
As an ASPSF alumna, volunteer, and advocate for education, Daneshia embodies the power of giving back. Her journey demonstrates how a scholarship can become something much larger — a lasting connection that inspires recipients to support the next generation of single parents pursuing their goals.

Thank you, Daneshia, for sharing your time, experience, and encouragement with single parent families. We are grateful for your dedication to ASPSF and the community you serve.
